Psalm 37:4 "He shall give you the desires of your heart."

We can embrace this promise, because He will! Other places speak of blessing"overflowing wthout measure. The thing to note is that the heart delighted in God desires different things. Sometimes "A dry morsel, and peace." is enough. Yet still, we're promised plenty, and constantly. If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, @voiceinthewilderness1. And then, tell your friends!

John 19:28 "It is finished."

No, I'm not planning on going anywhere. This blog is still fairly young! But then, Jesus also meant something a bit different by that. I mean, 2,000 years later, and there hasn't been "A voice like as a trumpet." just yet. But to that point, it had been at least as long since the Fall in the Garden. He hasn't come back because some of us still on't get it. On the cross, sin and death were finished. And if you believe, you can be done with them too.   If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, @voiceinthewilderness1. And then, tell your friends!

2 Cor. 1:20 "For all the promises of God are Yes in Christ... and Amen."

Yes and Amen.            In Christ Jesus, through His death, ressurection, and by His Spirit, we've gotten the full measure of everything that was taked about by the old Law and the old Prophets. So, we don't have to be good enough. Now, it's enough to be good. And anything we mess up, just bring to the Father. He's making everything right, and it's gonna be So Good.           If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, @voiceinthewilderness1. And then, tell your friends!

Matthew 16:24 "Take up their cross, and follow me."

I made a slight  transation here, because I believe Jesus is peaking to everyone. The verse also describes denying yoursef. Which is a big request. But if you read more scripture, you know it's a covenant. And He denied Himself to take our punishment. And by that same grace, we recieve infinitly more than we give, becoming more than conquerors.  If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, @voiceinthewilderness1. And then, tell yourfriends!

Isaiah 43:18 "Behold, I have made all things new."

We believe God made all things during Creation. But this is some time after the Garden. Do we have a second version of everything? In a way, yes. But more, we are new versions. After which, the grip of sin and shame that holds so much is different now. It's a proccess, and we stumble. But His grace is sufficient.     If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, @voiceinthewilderness1. And then, tell your friends!

John 16:33 "Take heart! I have overcome the world."

There will be troubles. Sadness, pain, anxiety, these are all very real. Our Lord makes no allusions to the contrary. But these are the world. And while we may not always see victory, that's only because this world is distracting. Still, when we pause and look to Him, we can see this promise. And take heart.      If you enjoyed that, check out my Sbstack, Voice in the Wilderness. And then, tell your friends!

Psalm 3:6 "And He shall direct thy paths."

Sure, God asks a lot. Acknowledge Him in All your ways? With every step you take? That's heavy, but that's the arrangement. The thing is, since He's perfect, you could never take a wrong step again.          If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, Voice in the Wilderness. And then, tell your friends!

Isaiah 43:19 "Behold, I am doing a new thing."

God's always doing new things. A new life, a new day, a new heartbeat. This way, He invites us to enjoy the genisis of creation all around. But so often, we become jaded, or too distressed to notice. So the thing is always to stop, to rest, and just percieve it.      If you ejoyed that, check out my Substack, Voice in the Wilderness. John 4:18 "Perfect love casts out all fear."

I struggled with this verse for a while. It feels like John is saying, just love Jesu, and you'll never be scared again. If you think about it, the fear must be there for love to cast it out. But perfect love does,  every time. The love of Jesus says that you'll be okay. You can keep going. He's got this.       If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, Voice in the Wilderness. And then, tell your friends!

Psalm 30:5 "Joy comes in the orning."

There's no telling how long the sorrow might last. Some nights seem exceptionally long. And some days just fly by, in the same way joy can. But whatever your grief. However long or brief. Joy comes in the morning.        If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, Voice in the Wilderness. And then, tell your friends!

Esther 4:14 "you have come for such a time as this."

Maybe you just got promoted at work. Or maybe, you just heard it's Cancer. I don't know. But what I do know is that whatever is happening, that's only a piece of a much bigger circumstance. Even so, all things work together for the good of those who love God. We may not see it, but the good will come.               If you liked that, check out my Substack, Voice in the Wilderness, and tell yourfriends!

Eternal Captivity

2 Corinthians 10:5 "We take every thought captive."              Here, Paul is leading by example. Ignore the royal "we," it meant something else in his day. But notice how he encourages believers to control their thinking. Recent studies show you have just over a second before a thought takes root. But if you know your habits, and the truth, God will help you do just that. Making Depression, Anxiety, Etc, less than memories! So you can go forth into the newness of life.            If you enjoyed this, check out my Substack, Voice in the Wilderness. And then, tell your friends!

When Simple is Hard

Psalm 46:10 "Be sttill,    and know that I am God."      This seems so simple, and it is, which is a great source of wonder and comfort. When it's that simple. The difficulty comes when we strugge to be still. Sometimes our circumstances won't allow that. And sometimes, our hearts just don't enjoy stillness. Even harder, believing that an old book is actually the voice of God. But He doesn't say that, and you don't need to prove it. Just know Him like He just knows you. Maybe take a beat when your up against it, breathe in, and know. He's got this.       If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, Voice in the Wilderness. And then, tell your friends!

Gen. 15:1 "I am thy portion."

My Bible fell to this verse, wthout my seeking, at a time of uncertainty and anxiety. But God knew, and He led me to that pomise. Because He's that for me. And if you'e reading this for the first time, I wager He wants to be your great reward. So, fear not.        If you enjoyed that, check out my Substack, Voice in the Wilderness. Romans 8:28 "God wroks all things together for the good."

We know  this. We don't just think it, or guess it. Because this truth has been proven, time and again. Of course, it's always according to His puroses. But that's also good, because nothing bad leads to anything good. So, we have sheer goodness. For ever.      If you enjoyed this message, check out my  SubStack,Voice in the Wilderness.
